    Valuable Experience for Driven, Self-Starters

     

    For Spring 2018 Cogent Law is looking for two highly motivated interns for 1) a business position full to 3/4 time - with an emphasis on organization and operations and 2) a legal position for Winter 2018 - open to law students. Cogent adheres to making sure we can give our interns the education, experience, and networking opportunities they seek in exchange for their strong work ethic, innovative mindset, team player attitude, and hunger to excel in the workplace. The qualified candidates will be available for 1/2, 3/4 or full time and work under the management of Cogent's Director of Operations and Business Development.

     

    Depending on your credentials, this could be a paid position from the beginning or after one-two months you may be eligible for a paid position full-time.     Both the legal and business internship positions require strong interpersonal skills, high levels of organization, the ability to think outside of the box and work independently, as well as the ability to quickly learn new software tools for business.

  • Business Internship Opportunity - for undergrad or Business School students

    Details:

    Skill Requirements:

    • A grasp or high interest in business organization and procedures
    • Interest in graphic design
    • Availability to attend morning or evening events to network with current or potential clients and partners
    • Great communication skills with the ability to communicate well with diverse groups in professional and more relaxed social settings
    • Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines
    • Proficiency with cloud document management tools (such as Google Drive)
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (especially Excel and Word)
    • Good working knowledge of a wide range of relevant social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
    • Highly proficient in writing marketing copy in the English language
    • Ability to work autonomously

    Skill Preferences:

    • Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe In-Design, or Streak CRM for Gmail
    • Internet blogging
    • Current studies for an undergraduate or advanced degree in marketing, business, communications or relevant fields

    Responsibilities

    • Support the director of outreach and operations in organizing and carrying-out various projects
    • Assist in the planning of firm events and digital networking activities
    • Write and post online content on the firm’s website and social media accounts
    • Coordinate and update calendars on firm's website
    • Design and compose firm and event digital and print literature such as informational flyers, brochures, and press releases
    • Updating spreadsheets and other firm documents with data from projects, events, meetings, etc.
    • Communicate directly with management executives, staff, and clients regarding firm projects
  • Legal Internship Opportunity - for law students

    Receive exposure to a wide range of business law including intellectual property, high tech (cryptocurrency/blockchain), compliance, and government contracting, as well as employee/HR law OR pick a particular area of interest from the aforementioned categories.

    Overview of Responsibilities

    • Assist with legal business operations
    • Client relations (take notes at client meetings, draft conflicts checks and engagement letters) 
    • Work with the administrator to guide legal procedures
    • Assist attorneys with legal research AND
    • Assist in drafting materials for legal memoranda
